This chapter discusses the occupations of school-aged children and the influence of social determinants of health and well-being on occupational participation. The chapter examines contextual influences on occupational development and explores how habits, roles, routines, and rituals create performance patterns that impact occupational participation. Case examples illustrate occupational therapy’s role in examining school-aged children’s occupations.
