Abstract
Designing Homeliness: Everyday practices of care is a theoretical and practical proposition aimed at creating an interdisciplinary meeting space to investigate the concept of home through practice. This chapter sets the theoretical scene by acknowledging existing research and scholarship areas that have worked with each of these concepts and practices separately: home, homeliness, care, wellbeing, value, revaluing, design, and designing. I evidence some overlaps in these conceptualisations that provide entry points for bringing these together through analysis; and point to the ethical and political potential of doing research at these intersections. The chapter ends with a list of takeaway points that apply to the book in general and to each of the following chapters.
