Abstract
The globe is experiencing a period of getting warm. Over the previous 50 years, hot days, hot nights, and heatwaves had become more frequent. Heatwave is a type of sustained extreme heat, which could lead to more adverse health outcomes than high but not extreme temperature conditions. In general, the heat and heatwaves could significantly increase the total cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and deaths. This chapter reviews the current epidemiological evidence on the impact of heat exposure on cardiorespiratory health.
