Abstract
Optical technology is poised to revolutionize short-reach interconnects. Integrated optical modulators with high bandwidth, small footprint, and broadband optical spectrum are a critical part of optical circuits. Therefore, semiconductor optical modulators have been heavily researched in the past few decades. However, it is confronted with a lot of intrinsic bottlenecks. Graphene has been hailed as a wonderful material in electronics and photonics since its discovery in 2004. Here we present some latest developments in graphene-based optical modulators.
