    Abstract

    The aim of this constructivist grounded theory study was to explore Australian rural nurses experiences of mentoring this paperhas added that; Experienced rural nurses see mentoring as one of a series of supportive relationships that they establish with new or novice rural nurses depending on time, levels of engagement and trust. Accidental mentoring is identified as a common short-term relationship that is established as a result of a new or novice rural nurse experiencing a critical incident.
