Abstract

This chapter provides and overview of key aspects of the current specifications for Geography in the Australian Curriculum. Understanding the background and foundation structure for this part of the curriculum helps ensure the teaching of Geography in schools has rigour and teachers can approach substantive content with confidence. The chapter is designed to work in tandem with Chapter 13, which demonstrates how a Geography curriculum can be applied in a practical sense in schools.
