Abstract
A more general study of the elastic plate problems by the method of constant deflection contour lines is undertaken. The subject is approached through considerations of determining the differential equation of "lines of Equal Deflection" under various boundary and load conditions which make it easy to arrive at a general understanding of the method, as applied to plates of any given geometrical shape. As illustrations, the case of a circular plate clamped on part of its boundary and simply supported on the remainder and the case of a clamped elliptical plate under elliptical line loading are discussed.
