Abstract

The structural changes of C15 Laves RMn2 compounds were investigated using a pressure differential scanning calorimeter and an X ray diffractometer. Heating the hydrogenated crystalline alloys in a hydrogen atmosphere simultaneously formed amorphous and nanocrystalline alloys. The formation of the compounds was discussed on the basis of the activation energy for hydrogen absorption, HIA and crystallization.
