Focussing attention on flexible work — Secure Jobs, Better Pay Act

Abstract

The Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 (Cth) (Secure Jobs, Better Pay Act) is making some welcome changes to the flexible work provisions, operative from 6 June 2023. These changes essentially broaden the scope of employees eligible to request flexible work, provide a new process for discussion between the parties, and open up an avenue to take an employer’s refusal of the request to the Fair Work Commission (FWC or the Commission).
