Feminine genius: revisiting gender complementarity today

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter (Book)Researchpeer-review

Abstract

The chapter aims to critically engage with the notion of “feminine genius” with regard to the implications it has to gender complementarity in the way we are socialised withn the framework of the church’s theology of the body. The term gained prominent use when it was articulated in Pope John’s ’Letter to Women’ written in conjunction with the 1995 Fourth UN World Conference on Women and revived today as the Catholic church discerns women’s spiritual and social contributions with the setting up of the Commission for the Study of the Diaconate of Women by Pope Francis in August 2016.
