    Abstract

Positive school-family engagement can enhance student learning and wellbeing. Hence, schools need to have policies that actively encourage the involvement and input of caregivers and other family members.

The purpose of this policy is to recognise the diversity and needs of families in any given community and incorporate procedures regarding school-family communication, collaboration and decision making. Ensuring that families are a part of school life can enrich all children’s education. Other features that strengthen school policy include assisting caregivers to help with homework and connecting learning at home and at school.
