Abstract

The influence of high latitute cyclogenesis in the presence of a subtropical jet (STJ), on the monsoon flow was discussed. The mechanisms that influenced the onset were extratropical-tropical interaction, intra-tropical interactions and the Madden Julian Oscillations (MJO). A simulation model was developed to study the high latitude cyclogenesis. It was observed that the triggering and modulation within the slow mode of the onset was related to the extratropical-tropical interaction.
