    Abstract

Environmental change has been one of the constants of Earth's history. For this important topic there are many scientific journals which concentrate on studies of palaeoenvironments. Similarly, biological change involving evolution is a process that tracks Earth's environmental changes, all the while inserting evolutionary novelties that improve the survival of the fittest. And, numerous journals are available which focus on demonstrating this pattern of biotic change through time. Taking a broader approach, Palaeo-3 provides a venue for publication of studies on both environments and life through geological time. This valuable combination has provided a necessary template for many advances over the past forty years in understanding links between processes involving both the Earth and biological sciences that operate over geological time.
