Abstract

This chapter introduces readers to the field of comparative labour law. It explains how the field has evolved in recent decades and identifies emerging themes and concerns. It also discusses common approaches and methodologies in comparative labour law, and the benefits and challenges associated with adopting a comparative perspective. Recognizing that most comparative studies have focused on the global North, particular attention is paid in the chapter to comparative work on jurisdictions and regions in the global South.
