N2 - In the version of this article initially published, 8% (page 136, column 1, line 16) is incorrect. The sentence should read: “However, this vaccine contains only one NP and M1 protein (A/Panama/2007/1999) and while these proteins are highly conserved (>90%), the sequence identity within the known CD8+ T cell antigenic sites for NP (n = 71) and M1 (n = 39) can be ∼50% for viruses like pH1N1 and H5N1 (our unpublished observations). Thus, it is possible that IAVs with mutations within these known CD8+ T cell antigenic sites may escape some of the pre-existing CD8+ T cell memory pools.” This error has been corrected for the PDF & HTML versions of this article. The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
