Equality, diversity, and inclusion from the labour–management perspective

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Chapter (Book) › Research › peer-review

Abstract

This chapter provides a critical review of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) research and practice from a range of perspectives, drawing on gender, migrant workers, and LGBT workers as examples for illustration. Issues related to gender, migrants, and LGBT can be studied from a range of disciplinary perspectives and thematic angles, such as regulation, structure, policy, politics, and roles and interplays of traditional and emerging institutional actors, opportunities, strategies, modes of mobilization and representation, forms of agency, culture, cognition, identification and identity, coping strategy, collective action, struggles and contestations, power, resources, political, social and economic effects, and sustainability. This chapter calls for EDI research to examine multiple social groups and multiple issues simultaneously to unpack the inter- and intra-group tensions, dynamic processes, political and social spaces, actors, and competition.
