Abstract
THEME SECTIONS of Aquatic Biology (AB) present integrated multi-author syntheses initiated and coordinated by acknowledged experts. They highlight cutting-edge research areas or problems and/or bring together cogent bodies of literature on all aspects of the biology of organisms in freshwater and marine habitats.
AB Theme Section 6 is based on results from the 9th International Workshop of the Group for Aquatic Primary Productivity (GAP), which was held in Malaga, Spain, in September 2012. Workshop participants conducted field and laboratory experiments to assess the effects of environmental factors related to global change on physiological performance and primary productivity of micro- and macroalgae.
The contributions to AB Theme Section 6 highlight the findings of the 4 workgroups, whose experiments focused on coastal phytoplankton, microalgal mass culture, and macroalgae.
As with all current AB articles, the online version of AB Theme Section 6 is available with Open Access.
