Enhanced recovery and recrystallization of pure copper due to an applied current

Abstract

In this paper, a careful study of the influence of an applied current on the recovery and on the recrystallization of pure copper is carried out. The thermal cycles are made tanks to a spark plasma sintering system. For the sake of comparison, heat treatment realized in a salt bath are also done. It is clearly shown that the current induces an enhanced recovery and recrystallization of the copper compared to the usual heat treatment in the salt bath. There is a threshold in the current value to observe this phenomenon.
