Abstract
The addition of Co to a Mg-8 wt.% Zn alloy allows the use of a much higher solution treatment temperature that can lead to higher concentrations of Zn atoms and vacancies in Mg grains of the solution-treated samples, which upon subsequent ageing can significantly increase precipitate number density and age-hardening response.
