Abstract

The effect of number of UPBG elements on the s-parameter performances of a PBG engineered microstrip line has been investigated. We used 2,4,6,8 and 10 UPBG elements in the ground plane of a standard 50-ohm transmission line. It can be seen that the stopband performance is highly sensitive to the number of UPBG elements. The ripple height in the passband is also seen to vary with the number of UPBG elements.
