Effect of low cycle fatigue on subsequent high cycle fatigue life of 316L stainless steel

The effect of low cycle fatigue (LCF) on the subsequent high cycle fatigue (HCF) life of a 316L steel was investigated. A spectacular increase of HCF life following a certain number of LCF cycles is reported. A further increase in the number of LCF cycles leads to a drop in HCF life.
