Effect of Cr content on decomposition behaviour of amorphous Nd5Fe74Cr3B18

Abstract

In this study, the effects of Cr content on heating rate upon annealing on the structural and magnetic properties were investigated for melt-spun Nd5Fe77-xCrxB18 (x=0,3 and 5) alloys. The crystallization products of amorphous Nd5Fe74Cr3B18 were found to depend strongly on heating rate. Amorphous Nd5Fe77B18 crystallized into Fe3B/Nd2Fe23B3, while amorphous Nd5Fe72Cr5B18 crystallized into Fe3B/Nd2Fe14B.
