Abstract
In Australia, every child is assured of a place in the education system. Australia is divided into six states and two territories. This paper will focus primarily on the engineering education system in the state of Victoria, the general structure of the education system in other states is similar to that described. There are however slight differences in starting time and progression. Further, the education systems in Australia are moving through a period of rapid change at all levels. This change is a result of industrial restructuring, technological change and student expectations. Some of these changes will be mentioned.
