The mining industry around the world has undergone significant changes since the turn of the century. Trade in major dry bulks has increased steadily for almost two decades at an average annual rate of 5.9 per cent. The one exception was in 2015,characterized by weak growth. In 2018 alone the total trade of dry bulk materials (Iron Ore and Coal) peaked to about 2.7 billion tons.
