Drug screening: Strategy and methods

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter (Book)Other

Abstract

The choice of technique to perform screens on an exhibit will depend on what is available in the laboratory but ideally should include a combination of immunoassay and one or more chromatography-based systems. These enable a comprehensive list of substances to be screened to enable a systematic approach to toxicological analysis rather than limit the tests to only a limited range of substances. Chapter 6 details the next step of the toxicological analyses in which substances identified by a screening technique is confirmed by an alternative method.
