RESEARCH STATEMENT:
'Drawing Country' aims to propose an alternative way of thinking about ideology and ontology. The argument relates specifically to art and culture and demonstrates through theoretical argument and practice, how Indigenous art and culture allow us to conceive of an alternative understanding of ideology. The purpose is to attempt to overturn the condition of amnesia that persists in Australia with regards to culture. These drawings articulate the Country of my ancestry of Bundjalung and Kamilaroi. This body of ten drawings demonstrate the ideation aspect of drawing as thinking and performative action.
All ten works were acquired in private collections.
