Abstract
Genetic elitism and double string coding were used for double-constrained optimization of optical component selection problem. Two constrains were applied for the first time where they were combined together using a merging function. The results show the performance of the algorithm regarding the cost optimization and the constraint handling. The results show that the algorithm maintains feasibility of the constraints while it converges to the steady state value.
