Abstract
Reaction of phenylmercuric acetate and phenylmercuric chloride with concentrated aqueous ammonia yields di(phenylmercuri)ammonium compounds, (PhHg)2+X- (X = OAc or Cl). The structures of these compounds and of the corresponding nitrate and sulphate have been established by infrared spectroscopy. Some decompositions of the compounds have also been investigared.
