Abstract

Quality communication between parents and educators plays an important part in promoting children's learning within early childhood services and schools (Woolley & Hay, 2013). According to the Early Years Learning Framework open dialogue and effective partnerships allows for 'the foundations of understanding each other's expectations and attitudes, and build on the strength of each other's knowledge' (Commonwealth of Australia, 2009, p. 12). This article focuses on a conversation between a parent and educators regarding the role of digital technology within the home and school, where we consider what it means for children to be digitally literate.
