Abstract
Advances in the research, development and applications of titanium and titanium alloys which have occurred in the United States since the TI 2007 Science and Technology Conference in Kyoto, Japan in 2007 are discussed. Titanium has had a prominent position in the chemical and aerospace industries, with a lesser presence in the medical, industrial, and energy fields and automotive aftermarket. The primary focus in the last few years has been for cost reduction to reduce the cost for present applications and hopefully make further penetration into the other markets.
