Abstract
Written by Jhana Pfeiffer-Hunt for Melbourne Museum Collections Online, this article examines the establishment and development of the De Marco Brothers Terrazzo Granolithic and Concrete Placing company (c. 1914 - 1950s). Drawing on archival records and industry sources, it situates the firm within the evolution of Australia’s terrazzo trade and Italian craft networks, highlighting major commissions such as Winthrop Hall (UWA) and the Australian War Memorial’s Hall of Memory. The piece expands understanding of migrant labour, technical innovation, and artisanal enterprise in the inter-war building industry
