Abstract

Alfred doctors are calling on the public to use
helmets when climbing ladders, especially the
babyboomer population who are at high risk of
major injury. In her study Danger at every rung: epidemiology and outcomes of ICU-admitted ladder-related trauma, chief investigator and senior clinical trauma research fellow Helen Ackland says the minor inconvenience of wearing
a helmet could prevent catastrophic injury.
