Abstract

[CpCr(EPh)]2E (1, E S; 2, E Se) reacts with Cr(CO)5 THF to give the adducts [CpCr(EPh)]2 E[Cr(CO)5] (3, E S; 4, E Se) in ca. 83% and 72% yields, respectively. In the presence of PPh3 as a Cr(CO)5 scavenger, 3 and 4 were converted back to 1 and 2, respectively. The molecular structures of 2 and 4 as determined by X-ray crystallography are compared.
