In conjunction with the increasing interest on men's health in general, there is a particular emphasis on diseases that affect the male reproductive organs. This has prompted the Australian Government to fund the development of an Australian Centre of Excellence in Male Reproductive Health to enhance community and professional education and research in the fields of prostate disease, testicular cancer, erectile dysfunction, male infertility and androgens. This review concentrates on some of the salient issues in men's health today that may present to the clinician and also identifies new developments and issues of controversy.
