Abstract

We present a finite-difference model to study pump induced cross modulation effects in large signal counter pumped Raman Amplifiers. This model, derived by the use of discretisation techniques, can be used to find the corner frequency of the response of signal cross modulation in a Distributed Raman Amplifier when the pump is modulated. Pump depletion is taken into consideration and the model has been verified by agreement with published experimental results.
