Correlation-based polarization demultiplexing for clock recovery in coherent optical receivers

Abstract

We propose and experimentally validate a novel method for polarization demultiplexing, based on intensity sample cross-correlation of polarization-multiplexed signals. The method allows to avoid PMD-induced failure conditions in digital clock recovery with limited computational complexity.
