Abstract

The emission properties of emitters positioned near a nanoantenna can be drastically influenced by the high fields generated. The most relevant concepts that are driving the development of current nanoplasmonics are reviewed, and a simple description is provided for recently developed theoretical approaches and experimental techniques aimed to tailor the optical response of metal nanostructures through plasmonics.
