Abstract
The paper presents recent advances in the controlled polymerization of methacrylates and acrylates. The concept of control is discussed with regards to molecular weight, stereospecificity, rate/exotherm, chain architecture and introduction of functionality. A number of methods such as classical anionic polymerization, metal free anionic polymerization, group transfer polymerization, immortal polymerization, and screened anionic polymerization and their similarities are also discussed and viewed as spectrum of related mechanisms.
