Abstract
As this volume reflects, the move to give young people a stronger presence in research has been an international phenomenon. Since the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child there has been a noticeable increase in research that presents young people’s perspectives and experiences, particularly in the areas of health, social work and education (Brooker and Macdonald 2010; Kirk 2007).
