Computing accurate Poincaré maps

Abstract

A numerical method suited for computing Poincare maps for systems of ordinary differential equations is presented. Poincare map requires solving the system of differential equations and detecting when a point returns to the Poincare section. A numerical algorithm, addressing both requirements, is also presented.
