Compressive flow of the fluid M1

Abstract

Constant velocity squeeze flow experiments are conducted on test liquid M1. This is an ideal elastic fluid formulated using polyisobutylene in a polybutene/kerosene solvent. Since the Lldroyd B relaxation time is 0.15 s, the highest Weissenberg number at which reliable data could be obtained is 0.015, a low value. Under these conditions the fluid behaves as a perfectly Newtonian liquid.
