Abstract
Smart grid incorporated the advanced set of technologies (components), which are implemented at various rates with diversify settings around the globe. These components are depended on the local commercial attractiveness, compatibility with existing technologies, regulatory measures, and investment policies. This chapter discussed the various components of smart-grid system, which together develop the smart-grid system. These components include smart appliances, electric vehicles, smart substations, smart meters, distributed generation, Phasor measurement units, integrated communication, and sensing and measurement techniques. A detailed discussion of all these components is presented in this chapter.
