Comparison of power-efficient optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing transmission methods

Abstract

Two methods of generating modified optical OFDM signals that give improved receiver sensitivities over NRZ in unamplified and amplified systems are compared using simulations. Asymmetric-Clipped Optical OFDM can compensate intermodal dispersion. Carrier-Suppressed Optical-Single Sideband OFDM can compensate chromatic dispersion.
