Abstract

Integrating technology into lectures has the potential to enrich the learning environment through a shift from passive consumption toward active learning and engagement in student-centred interaction and content creation. However, a challenge is ensuring that educators’ have the digital capabilities and confidence to design digital activities that meet student learning needs and expectations. Informed by ‘students as partners’ research, this teaching intervention brought students into the learning design space. Students partnered with academics in the co-creation of learning activities for lectures using the Echo360 Active Learning Platform (ALP), as well as students as partners in the project’s research evaluation. The project was implemented across 6 courses in one university involving 5 student-educator partnerships. This study investigates the students-as-partner approach to the design of Echo360ALP activities and the experiences of those involved, including academics, students-as-partners and students enrolled in participating courses.
