Abstract

In summary, ethical and legal issues have the potential to stop a research study in its tracks if not considered fully at all stages. The time taken for approval by ethics committees, particularly if there are a number involved (and if you have to apply to a Multi Centre Ethics Committee), can be considerable. It is wise to allow at least three months for full ethics approval.
