Characterization of pressed and sintered Ti-6Al-4V powders

Abstract

Pressed and sintered compacts made from blended sponge fines and Al-V master alloy offer hardware suitable for secondary structures for aerospace applications. Compacts from two sources were characterized in terms of properties, chemistry and microstructure. Processing before and after sintering has an impact on mechanical properties and microstructure. Substantial chemical segregation is present.
