Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) compressional wave propagation from a tunnel or borehole in a rock mass with single joint is a multiple factor-influenced problem. The possible factors influencing on the transmittivity including the normalized stiffness of the joint, the radian angle, the radius of the cavity, the radial distance from the cavity center and the mechanical properties of the rock. Extensive parametric studies on the transmittivity were performed, the characteristics of it were induced, and the research strategies were proposed for the corresponding problems. The results show that the study on transimittivity can be done using the points along the circle arc centered at the roadway or the boring core, the transimittivity at the joints along the right angle ray can be studied using one single point behind the joint, and the studies on transimittivity can be done on any reasonable radius value of the roadway or boring core in a typical rock.
