Abstract
Different microstructures of long-serviced 2 1/4 Cr-1Mo steel were simulated by high temperature accelerated aging and the mechanical properties were tested. The results show that the spheroidization of pearlite is the main characteristic of the microstructural changes in the steel. The tensile properties and creep strength of the steel decrease with the speroidization of the pearlite. Finally, a remaining life prediction method for long-serviced 2 1/4 Cr-1Mo steel is proposed which takes into account both the microstructure damage and the creep damage.
