Abstract

The analysis framework for single layered glazing fagade systems has already been established in previous studies. However, due to the recent trend towards sustainable development, there are more prevalent uses of double skin fagade systems, which lead to new challenges in assessing the performance of these fagade systems under extreme loadings such as bomb blasts. The exercise presented in this paper is an attempt to establish the performance characteristics of the glazing fagade system, in the form of pressure-impulse curves and fragility curves. The performance indicator of typical double skin fagade systems will be developed based on a finite element model of a typical fagade system. The effect of the second fagade layer on the performance characteristics of the overall system will be briefly discussed.
