Abstract

Bis(pentafluorophenyl)ytterbium has been isolated as the highly air-senstive complex (C₆F₅)₂ Yb(THF)₄ (THF = tetrahydrofuran) from a transmetallation reaction between bis(pentafluorophenyl)mercury and ytterbium metal in tetrahydrofuran.
